The 395th recipient is Samille Ganges of Speak Easy Farm in New Orleans, LA. Samille writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “A time to step away from daily chores activity and labor on the farm and to lean into some relaxation away from the farm. While I owe a lot to the farm and to the land and to the plants , I need to make time to enjoy other pleasures. My well-being looks like quiet, calm alone time. That can be replenishing. Maybe that’s body work or laying in my hammock reading.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I’ll probably get bodywork done. Acupuncture, a massage, or other somatic healing. Those are some ways that I like to give to myself and replenish.”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "Body work! Massages and acupuncture are two wellness practices I enjoy that takes away my aches and pains and allows me to get back in my body.”
