The 252nd recipient is Rhiannon Le Fay of Brackenshire Farm @brackenshirefarm in Deming, WA. Rhiannon writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care means I have priorities in my life that aren’t about farming. Hobbies, goals, interests, and non-farmer friends remain important and regular past times for me. It also means taking care of my body and mind - working out, going to therapy, and eating well are important all year long.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would likely use this grant towards co-pays for some health care needs I have this winter. Ongoing mental health therapy, hormone testing, and possibly some acupuncture feel really important to me right now to address and prevent burnout.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: “I think our farmer culture needs to change away from glorifying non-stop work and self sacrifice and instead make more space in our norms and culture for taking care of ourselves, acknowledging what is hard and doesn’t work, and trying to add balance to our lives with non-farming interests.”
