The 378th recipient is Rebecca Miller of North Tabor Farm in Chilmark, MA. Rebecca writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care is a precious commodity for a farmer. Most farmers do not practice self-care because there is always another chore to be completed, and then they are physically and mentally drained. I find it most effective when I can schedule a self-care date sometime in the near future and then have the date to look forward to. It has taken me 30 years of farming to finally value self-care. The younger generation of farmers has taught me the importance of self-care by having better boundaries with their time.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would schedule a massage to be done at the end of the day so I could bask in the relaxation as long as possible. It is a rare opportunity to be responsibility-free.”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "The most essential self-care need is to take the time necessary to act on your true passions. As farmers, we excel at getting the job done no matter what. True self-care requires presence. I love farming because I am close to nature and provide for my community, but I am passionate about walking in the woods with my horses.”
