What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care means giving my body and mind the rest they need. Farming is hard work—I wake up early and work long hours growing garlic, turmeric, ginger, flowers, and vegetables in small urban spaces. I also help others grow food in the city, which takes a lot of energy. Taking care of myself helps me stay strong, focused, and able to keep farming and supporting my community.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would use the $100 to buy a deep tissue massager and insoles. My back, shoulders, and feet hurt from long days lifting and walking. These will help me feel better, stay active, and keep growing food for my community.”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "My most important need is to take care of my body. I need rest for my muscles and feet. I also need quiet time to relax my mind. Sometimes, I am too tired to eat well or sleep right. Self-care helps me feel human again. It keeps me from burning out. It helps me be a better farmer, teacher, and helper to others in my community.”
