The 621st recipient is Melody Smith of Holcomb Farm in West Granby, CT. Melody writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “As a vegetable farmer, self-care means taking time to myself to de-stress and reset, especially during peak growing season. It's important for me to carve out self-care time during the farm's busiest time of year because it's also the time when my stress levels both physical and mental, are at an all time high. My favorite types of self-care are attending a restorative yoga class, going out for a nice meal with my loved ones, and getting a massage.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: ”Access to $100 would allow me to purchase a class-pack at my favorite yoga studio so I can enjoy a few restorative yoga classes to help unwind and stretch my tired muscles.”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "As a vegetable farmer, the self-care needs that contribute the most to my personal well-being are massage, yoga and stretching, sturdy work boots, and nourishing food.”
