Maunda Femi Bethel of Nonchalant Farms

The 268th recipient is Maunda Femi Bethel of Nonchalant Farms @nonchalant_farms in Covington, GA. Maunda writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Quiet time away from the field/farm since currently I only leave the area for medical appointments and to pick up equipment. The road trips can be cathartic, that’s care adjacent, but intentional time away would be nice.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I really need to get my work boots resoled so I would use the award to help pay the cobbler. Or, I would possibly use the funds for going to the sensory deprivation float spa in the neighboring town, but I should have my boots repaired soon.”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: “Since I have a pesky heart issue, physical strengthening and sleep are of the utmost importance for me. However, I recently found out that I have sleep apnea which triggers cardiac events, though I still need to have a proper sleep study to confirm and have equipment prescribed. Since these new occurrences were undiagnosed for a while, I limited my physical exertion, but with the updated diagnosis, I am trying to get back to normal.”
