The 381st recipient is Lucy Nordin of Letterbox Farm in Hudson, NY. Lucy writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “For me, it’s learning how to set boundaries, and know when to stop! I do love farming, and I love working, but I get myself into sticky situations committing to more than I can handle. So I think it’s learning to listen to the signals your body sends you! Not only to hear them, but to take the steps to actually give yourself a break, or learn how to say no, even when you want to help the farm move forward. Then, for me at least, when I do choose to do something extra for the farm, or even just my daily tasks, I can do them healthily, without resentment, and from a full tank, so hopefully I’m doing an even better job!”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would really love to go to therapy. I finally found someone I think fits well with my life, but then found out my insurance wouldn’t cover it. So this would be a blessing to put towards a therapy session, ultimately helping me learn how to better show up in all my relationships, including my work life.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "I think surrounding yourself with a strong crew, both on the farm, and off. Prioritizing people that will care for you, and show up for you. Because farming is hard, and takes a lot out of us. And knowing we have people on our sides to help with dinner after a long day, or offer words of comfort or a back rub when needed is priceless.”
