What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care is the ability to have time, energy and an understanding to care for you body, mind and soul through the best way you relax and mend. As a farmer for me that means taking the time off farm to connect with nature and be active.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would use the $100 to plan an outdoor adventure; the best self care I can do for myself is to move in the outdoors off the farm. To take the time to be away for even one night can be stressful but this self care fund would help facilitate my adventure trip. Either through biking or hiking; taking the time to re-connect with nature and move my body outside mends my soul and health. I would like to use the $100 to do an overnight bike ride this spring after completing the last seeding trays for early summer. This one night bike ride would be planned for me to sleep under the sky, bike to the ocean or river and spend the time reconnecting to the earth and finding inner peace with nature again.”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "Time is money and time away from the farm is the best self care because if I am here I will just want to keep completing projects or do work. And taking a night away clears my head and lets me re-set especially if that is spent being outside through camping hiking or biking.”
