The 370th recipient is Lauren Russek of Crabtree Farms in Chattanooga, TN. Lauren writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Supporting your physical and mental needs to achieve an overall sense of personal balance. When you feel healthy, you can best care for the land you steward and community you serve.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would like to use this gift to schedule a massage. My neck and back are feeling the negative physical effect of a four-season, hustle and bustle market farm routine. These sort of care items are not covered under my limited insurance plan.”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "It's a two way tie for the most important needs - staying connected to community and creating intentional time for physical healing.”
