The 458th recipient is Landry Werth of The Farm at Our House in Brookeville, MD. Landry writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “We thrive in community, and working on a farm is one great example of building connections with one another. It is essential to treat ourselves how we treat our crops/livestock. We are USDA Organic, and our main focus is on the foundation, our soil. Healthy soil is great for the land, crops, and increasing biodiversity with local wild flora and fauna. These concepts can be applied to how we treat ourselves too. We must maintain a healthy foundation and nourish our bodies to yield the best results.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “The award would allow me to support other local businesses at our Farmers Markets. We are all working so hard, but it can be tough to afford the nutritious food that we need for ourselves.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "A healthy diet. It is essential for a successful day at work. Protein, vegetables, and electrolytes help energize the body. We need it!”
