The 460th recipient is Krisi Olivero of Alter Eco Farms in Hixson, TN. Krisi writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Farming is hard work. It is long days, low margins and self sacrifice day after day for the betterment of the world around you. In this cycle it is very easy to forget to take care of yourself, but without taking care of yourself you can't continue to take care of the world around you.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would love to use $100 to be able to treat myself to some healthy, sustainable food/goods from neighboring farmers. We work so hard ,and sometimes find that we still can't afford to eat as well as we'd like to or support the farms around us. A little extra money to replenish our own nutrients would be a treasure.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "Just like the soil, we all need rest and good nutrition. Without these basics we can't continue to do the hard work that we do to take care of our communities. Time to rest and access to often high cost nutritious supplemental food goes a long way.”
