What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Setting boundaries and actually following through with time off and time away from the farm. Finding a balance of spending time with friends and family not while doing ‘work’ or farming related activities is important because our family and friends are involved in the farm, and my husband and I run the farm business together. Finally, seeing exercise, stretching, and strength building as a separate need from farm work to protect my body.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I'd like to take a day away from the farm to visit a hot springs nearby in Warm Springs, VA.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: “I think a regular yoga practice/exercise routine would be awesome, and the support from my community to hold me accountable to doing it. It would be cool if there was a free public resource for farmer's body care (strength building, stretching, etc) like Yoga with Adrienne. The ability to take time off and vacation would also contribute immensely to my wellbeing, although that seems harder to access than improving my daily body care routine.”
