The 364th recipient is Katherine Whalen of Indigo Acres @indigoacresok in Oklahoma City, OK. Katherine writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “For me, it’s a combination of having emotional/social support and physical recuperation. Diversified vegetable farming in Oklahoma is an uphill battle - our general culture doesn’t tend to support or uplift small vegetable farms. I surround myself with a community that advocates for farmers and local food. As for the physical recuperation - I am forever trying to get better at this. Working on resting and stretching more. I even went to the chiropractor a few times last year!”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “A massage! I am just returning to the farm after having my first baby. He is coming to the farm with me half-time, and the combination of baby wearing and getting back into the swing of things on the farm have my body aching!”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "I don’t often prioritize rest and physical recuperation (chiropractor, yoga, massage, etc.). I can’t really afford chiropractic care or massage therapy, but I do some yoga via YouTube - this is a gift!”
