What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “For me, farmer self care means taking care of our physical, mental, and emotional needs. Farmers and ranchers have some of the most demanding high stress occupations. Being able to access things like body work and mental health services so that we are able to continue doing what we love is so important.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I will use the award to pay for bodywork, specifically for my back. I grow cut flowers, raise livestock, and I'm also a hoof trimmer. When I'm not working on my farm, I'm out trimming donkeys, horses, and small ruminants. I'm grateful to be awarded the real farmer care award so that I can access much needed body care!”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "The most important self care need for me personally is body work, especially for my back. I need to care for my body before it's too late and I am unable to do what I enjoy the most which is care for my animals and plants.”
