The 213th recipient is Jovanna Lopez @therealgrowvanna of Garcia Street Urban Farm in San Antonio, Texas.
Jovanna writes, “Farming for me means self reliance, providing access for those around me even if it’s a fraction of the systems that exist, and passing on knowledge to community so they are able to have a skill for survival when our systems are challenged. Support for me is community coming together to provide mutual aid for one another. Always finding a way to give our families, friends and neighbors support and relief when needed. Whether it’s a helping hand, an ear to listen to, taking a break or a resource to share when needed, this all is important to community care, self care and mental health.”
