The 239th recipient is Marc Delaney of Delaney Farms @delaney_farms in Syracuse, NY. Marc writes, “I have been farming my whole life, and I’ve been taking on more responsibilities the past few years. Located outside of Syracuse NY, Delaney Farms is a fifth-generation family farm and it has been a part of the local community for over 100 years. We sell our nursery starts during the spring, and seasonal vegetables during the summer, fall, and winter within a 10 miles radius of the farm.
As a farmer, providing nutritious food is the greatest gift we can give. Caring for the land will preserve it for future generations. To do this for the long term, I must consider my own physical and mental health. Much of the work involves repetitive movements. In order to do this, I must incorporate a practice of mindful, self awareness to help me get through each season a little more successfully than the last.”
