The 488th recipient is Jesah Segal of Sprout Culture in Asheville, NC. Jesah writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care prioritizes long-term well-being over short-term depletion by listening to our bodies and minds, focusing on sustainable goals, and treating life like a marathon, not a sprint. Like maintaining a car—changing oil, checking brakes, and swapping tires—we can upgrade ourselves through learning, meditation, and exercise. My routine includes 4-5 days of running, weight lifting, rucking, sprinting, hill running, or yoga, plus 7+ hours of sleep for a refreshed mind and body.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “For fun, I’d treat my family to a big meal or spend an afternoon alternating between cold plunges and saunas.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "Exercise, is at the top of my list. 4-5 days a week. This includes, running, weight lifting, rucking, sprinting, running hills, yoga - anything that gets my blood flowing and my heart beating. And of course, sleep. I strive to get at least 7 hours a night so I feel fresh and rested during the day.”
