The 275th recipient is Jenny Wielk of Dovehill Farm @dove_hill_farmct in Moosup, CT. Jenny writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “My Grandfather always said that you cannot pour from an empty cup. I never really understood the concept or meaning until I started farming. There are a lot of times that you are constantly giving of yourself when you're a farmer. If you don't take time to fill your own cup (take care of yourself), you won’t be able to help others who need your assistance because your cup will be empty.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would purchase new boots and treat myself to a nice dinner. Comfy feet and full bellies are always a comfort.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: “Mental health and wellness. The countless amount of families of farmers that did not get the help they needed and ended up either passing away at their own hands, becoming substance dependent, or losing everything has been staggering and eye opening as a younger farmer.”
