The 376th recipient is Dianna Diehl of Adam’s Heirlooms in Mishicot, WI. Dianna writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self care for me, and I would guess most farmers, is about finding balance, a balance that's often elusive when your life revolves around the farm. The reality is, the line between farm life and personal life blurs, and the farm's needs tend to take priority. For me, self-care is about recognizing the need for intentionality. It's about understanding that without conscious effort, the farm's demands will always overshadow our own well-being. It's too easy to push things aside, thinking "I'll get to it later," or "I'll deal with this when things slow down." But "later" often never arrives.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “It's going straight towards a therapeutic massage for my husband. He's the backbone of Adam's Heirlooms, the one who's out there hauling, lifting, and pushing his body to the limit every single day. Farming ain't easy on the body, and he rarely takes a moment for himself.”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "My most critical self-care needs revolve around consistent physical rest, healing, and mental decompression. Farming is relentless, so scheduled downtime is essential. I need to physically leave the farm, even for a few hours weekly, to break the constant "to-do" cycle. This mental space is vital.”
