What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care is being able to work within my abilities - being neurodivergent, my mental health is a priority and is vital for me to run the farm and support my family. Being prepared both mentally and physically is paramount in our journey to grow our business and have the lifestyle we want to live.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “The award would pay my copay to see my therapist 5 times. Since I am disabled, I am fortunate to have insurance. That being said, living on a fixed income where we have to be extremely frugal and try to build a farm business, most of the times the money just isn't available to go to the doctor.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: “Being able to work on keeping my mental health strong for not only a business mindset but for prioritizing family life as well. Setbacks are going to happen in any business and relationship, but having the tools to work through them are of utmost importance.”
