The 439th recipient is Clarice Scott of Young Female Farmers in Bishop, GA. Clarice writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self care and well being are the necessary additives for an exquisitely balanced individual. As farmers and ranchers the weighty responsibility of producing food for family first, community second and the world, rest upon the mind where there is no documented scientific measurement. The world neglects women because we're invisible. How sad for the man who forgets his mother. Self care reminds us, that we are allowed to be tired like the rest of the world and require rest.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I'd like to invest in a one hour scalp massage to wash the world's toxicity down the drain and then my brain will truly weigh three pounds.”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "Talking to other like minded people who are in the trenches not just writing script about the hardships of crop loss, hungry cattle, or water scarcity due to climate change.I enjoy communing with people who have done the work and have solutions.”
