The 494th recipient is Chalchi Kardós of We Have Always Been Related in Mequon, WI. Chalchi writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care and well-being in my context of being a farmer means considering my whole self, including my children; reflecting and getting curious about how the various bodies of self are doing (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social). It means addressing areas that are in need of care and bringing more harmony to my life.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would use these funds to seek bodywork session as my body sorely needs the care. I have arthritis in my knees and carry my stress in my upper back. I navigate pain and mobility.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "QTBIPoC offered bodywork and culturally affirming mental health services would contribute the most to my well-being. Two needs that are unmet.”
