The 419th recipient is Brianna Reis of Featherbed Lane Farm in Ballston Spa, NY. Brianna writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “In the context of farming, self-care and well-being is crucial. It means taking care of one-self, both physically and mentally, so that you can continue to do the work that is required. Farmers give so much to the plants and land but also to the community, so it's important to take care of yourself because you can't pour from an empty cup. It can entail body work, nourishing your body, or taking time to slow down and enjoy life.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would likely use the award towards a spa day to get a massage, sauna, baths, etc., perhaps mid-season to help with getting through the remainder of the season.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "I think the most important self-care needed as a farmer is taking care of your body. This can be done through stretching, yoga, massage work, simply rest, etc. But also nourishing your body. You need to fuel your body with food that is nourishing to both the body and soul. To be a vegetable farmer, utilizing and sharing the bounty with loved ones is essential to farmer well-being.”
