The 519th recipient is Benjamin Williams of Whatley Farm in Topsham, ME. Benjamin writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “For me it means anticipating what I need to do in order to be ready to do the work the next day. If it was a hard week say on elbows then I make sure of resting them. If it's going to be cold and wet, bring layers and a change of socks.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: ”I would look for an additional pair of boots. My boots are no longer effectively waterproofed and it would help to have an extra pair ready and dry.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "The most important to me is rest, especially following a long time spent on tasks with lots of repetitive movement. And again, appropriate equipment.”
