The 389th recipient is Amanda Ronquillo of Precious Seedlings Farm in Portland, OR. Amanda writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “To care for oneself as a farmer means to turn those skills and passion of cultivation inward and toward community to preserve those who steward life.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would likely use the award to pay for acupuncture, which is one of the touch therapies that have made a huge difference for me during farm season but has always been out of reach financially.”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "The most important self care needs for me as a farmer is to engage with community outside of hard-pressed work hours. Shared meals, a swim in the river, playing music among the crops, political education in the fields, yoga at sunset. To remember there is life outside of capitalism, especially during the heat of the growing season!”
