RECIPIENTS

Alycia Salvas of Radical Roots Farm

The 273rd recipient is Alycia Salvas of Radical Roots Farm @radicalrootsct in Canterbury, CT. Alycia writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care and wellbeing is taking a break when you need it, especially during the off season if there is one. Taking some time to just be with the land and animals without working it.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would likely use the award to purchase myself a pair of good quality shoes for working on the farm as my current ones are old, slippery, stiff dried out rubber, and uncomfortable often leading to back pain at the end of the day, but it is not in my budget to purchase new ones for myself.”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: “Time off the farm and personal care items are the most important to me.”
