Kamal writes, “Sankofa Farms is a multifaceted agricultural entity that seeks to assist in changing the food intake habits of those living in and affected by food deserts. Currently, our business offers honey, leafy greens, farm goods, and a summer agricultural program. Black farmers have been systematically oppressed in this country since the first enslaved Africans were brought to the Americas. In this we have faced many hardships, but still we pushed to survive and provide for our people. In this current time it is important for us to embrace the values of our past so that we move forward to develop a sustainable food system for our communities.” .
