The 243rd recipient is Sarah Snow of Octopus Herb Garden @octopus.herb.garden in Langlois, Oregon. Sarah writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “It's balance (something I'm not the always the best at). I have to keep my mind and body strong in the off season and remember to play and carrying the joy into what often feels like a manic peak season. Sometimes self care is taking a 5 minute break from harvest and throwing myself into the swimming hole to reset. It's remembering to find the beauty amongst the chaos.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would personally get a massage - guilt-free. It's something that I always say I need to do and always intend to work it into the budget and then never do because I end up making other things a priority.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: “Slowing down and dropping back into my body. I tend to spend peak season running on adrenaline with minimal sleep and pushing through any physical pain because "I have to". If I could find more pockets of calm and rest and tending to my body versus pushing it so hard, my body, mind, and spirit would be much happier.”
