The 481st recipient is Maggie Langford of Wild + Woven Farm in Walnut Cove, NC. Maggie writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Being able to afford quarterly marriage counseling, as my husband and I work together and don’t have the funds nor the expertise to truly check in with each other to maintain a healthy and thriving relationship. It also means allowing the hiring of occasional help so our entire family can step away for a day to connect. Connecting with your spouse, your kids, and your friends away from the pressure of the endless to-do list of the farm fills my cup and gives me greater motivation when stepping back on the farm.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “Hiring help for a day away from the farm with our 4 small children. Hiking, a picnic lunch, and a swimming hole all while the hired help gets the basics done and we come home refueled to a peaceful farm.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "Connection with your family with no distractions, time spent journaling to self reflect, volunteers or an occasional hired help to check off the “bottom of the list” tasks that will never get done but drive you crazy to look at.”
