Loba writes, “My farm story is pretty simple: I come from a family of land workers. I’m originally from Arequipa, Peru which is a high altitude valley in southern coastal Peru surrounded by volcanos. Agriculture is extremely important in the Andean world and the Andean calendar is marked by important agricultural dates. Traditional agriculture in the Andean region is based off connection and reciprocity. Working with land to grow alongside food and medicine really brought meaning to my mutual aid practice. I love growing food and seeds for fellow BIPOC and QTBIPOC communities. Working with land is our birthright.”
