The 300th recipient is Kristen McLane of The Farm at Worman Mill @farm.at.worman.mill in Ahwahnee, CA. Kristen writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “As a farmer I struggle with taking time to care for myself. Working for myself (in partnership with my spouse) requires ownership and includes responsibilities that don't allow ‘clocking-out’ or ‘passing the buck’ to someone else. It's rewarding, but also can be demanding, overwhelming, and draining. In that same context, I can't afford to neglect my own well-being as my livelihood depends on being healthy in all aspects of body, mind, and heart”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “Time spent in nature is my top form of self-care. I live/farm adjacent to the Sierra National Forest and will use this award to purchase quality hiking boots. In addition to the physical benefits, time spent noticing and reflecting on the natural world awakens my sense of wonder while helping to heal personal wounds after the loss of a loved one.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: “My well-being would be improved with consistent sleep, play (doing activities I enjoy....but without self-inflicted guilt), and a personal chef. Sort of kidding with the third, but one of my greatest struggles during the busy season is preparing nutritious (not just fast) meals for my family AND getting dinner on the table before 8pm!”
