What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “It means comfort - having what you need to comfortably do your work. As a disabled farmer, gear means a lot to me. Part of self care is setting yourself up for success. An example- I cannot set a 6 ft t-post by myself. I purchased 4 ft posts and I was able to get the work done.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: ”I would purchase a pair of gardening overalls that have all the pockets I need. Being prepared means I can save my steps because my body can get pretty stingy with them!”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "Sleep and nutrition are the cornerstones for me. It's not an exciting answer, but I know taking the time to unwind and sleep well is the best self care I know. As a farmer, I try to get up and get out in the field as early as possible, but a nutrient dense breakfast is always worth it.”
