The 279th recipient is Kendra Ragland of Practical Botanicals @practicalbotanticals in Silver Spring, MD. Kendra writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care and well being in farming ultimately equates to community. We can't do this work without support from each other. Listening to your body, eating well, staying hydrated, taking breaks as needed and having the support needed lined up to be be able to step away from the farm and recharge are all important parts of staying balanced and well.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “The award will allow me to get a much needed massage. My back aches, friends!”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: “The most important self care need as a farmer for me is accepting help. As much as I realize farming in isolation does not do much to contribute to well-being, I still find it difficult to accept help from others. I'm working on it!”
