What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care and well-being in farming and ranching are about finding balance amidst the hard work. To me, it means respecting the physical, mental, and emotional demands of this life and ensuring we take intentional steps to care for ourselves.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would use it to assist with paying for my $65 monthly gym membership.”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: “As a mushroom farmer, the most important self-care need is maintaining a strong connection to balance and sustainability — both in the farm and within myself. Physically, it’s essential to prioritize rest and proper ergonomics when performing repetitive tasks like harvesting or preparing substrates. Eating well, staying hydrated, and ensuring adequate sleep fuel the long hours spent in the farm's controlled environment.”
