RECIPIENTS

Ali Lautenslager of Boundless Farmstead

The 292nd recipient is Ali Lautenslager of Boundless Farmstead @boundlessfarmstead in Bend, OR. Ali writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “The reason I became a farmer was because I wanted to grow and eat the food that would make me feel my best. That provides for an ideal life of well-being, a life of high energy and clarity. Self-care is the most important task on any farm, it helps to nourish the mind and the body of the farmer. When we choose ourselves first whether it’s through bodywork or calming the thoughts in our mind, we allow for stronger selves who can build the community up.”

How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would love to use the award to help heal and strengthen my injuries. I would put it towards paying for the gym so I can work on strength training. Or a membership for yoga for the year, or treat myself to a massage that is so desperately needed. Anything for relief!”

Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: “The most important would be enough sleep, proper nutrition, a clear mind, a strong body, happy relationships inside and outside of farming. Also spending some time doing outdoor activities outside of farming!”
