The 465th recipient is Abigail Clariett of Abigail's Homestead in Statesboro, GA. Abigail writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care and well-being are apart of my physical and mental health which I value dearly. Working the land enables me to eat nutritious foods and ensure that I take of my body and mind. As, a disabled Army Veteran I enjoy the open space to bring something to fruition as well as bring me joy when times are tough. I find wholeness and peace in the land and through preserving it, it will provide me with a sustainable lifestyle for years to come.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “As a member of the Disabled Underserved community, I strive to give back to my community. The award will allow me to continue to plant vegetation through the purchase of seeds, soil, and fertilizer so I can continue the work and give back to the youth that I mentor who help me on my homestead.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "The most important self-care needs as a farmer are the work/life balance that I must implement to ensure that my family is taken care of as well as setting limits to what I can and cannot do.”
