The 576th recipient is Matt Coghill of Canewater Farm in Victor, ID. Matt writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care and well-being to me in the context of farming looks like finding ways that allow us to drop our shoulders and recognize the importance of taking care of ourselves to be able to take care of our land and support our community. For me, this sort of well being looks like slowing down and enjoying the morning with the recognition that I don't need to be in the field at said given moment.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: ”I would utilize the $100 in a way that allows me to recharge my mental health. Dinner with my partner, a massage, a therapy session. Anything in that realm that allows my mind to drift off the farm. Maybe even a hot springs pass!”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: "The most important self-care needs as a farm are physical and mental, for me. But more so mental. Even when I am not on the farm, I am on the farm. For better or worse, right? A setting that allows me to be present in the space I am and step away from the farm mentally is really the most important piece for me.”
